With inspiration as her guide, Carol Lynn’s work embodies a surreal sense of fantasy and soulfulness. Her work has evolved along with her own personal development and she credits her art to conscious awareness of her internal self. Many of her images embody a spirit of life outside of our conscious realities, thus inspiring viewers with their light sense of fancy, while presenting a more spiritual purpose and meaning. Although Carol Lynn’s artwork has developed strongly in the past few years, her many talents pushed her in a multitude of directions before she aspired to her true calling.
Growing up in Wheaton, Illinois Carol Lynn spent much of her childhood among nature, talking with the spirits and the faerie beings. Her cat tagging along behind she often climbed the large maple tree in the front yard where her favorite nook was waiting. “Hidden in the lush leaves I would begin to doze and feel myself sink into the richness of the tree’s interior. The living breathing soul of nature pulsating around me became a place of regeneration. I would enter other worlds of adventure as I slipped into a state I now know as meditation.” Meditation has become a powerful tool in Carol Lynn’s work, as she allows her inner feelings to express themselves beautifully through color and paint appliqué.
Carol Lynn attended Monmouth College in Illinois, and graduated with a BA in Art as well as Biology. With her creative abilities always pushing to the forefront, Carol Lynn, developed experience in graphic design, advertising as well as short film production. Yet it wasn’t until later in life that she recognized her talents as a fine artist mural painter. At this point her creativity flourished, and the demand for her ability to bring life to plain walls, and warmth to people’s homes dramatically increased. Carol Lynn’s mural career soon broadened from the Ann Arbor area, to prestigious commissions in California. Her work can be seen in many business offices, coffee houses, schools and throughout private homes. Although her murals are more flexible and reflect the design and personality of each commissioner, Carol Lynn’s individual paintings are completely personal, and reflect her love for nature. Each painting is uniquely inspired by her visions or meditations. By bringing her sub conscious to a new level of awareness she allows her healing energy to impact her work, and in turn impacts her viewers.
Currently Carol Lynn resides in Milan, MI with her two children, Lauren who is 17, and Tyler now 13. With a desire to share more of her art and personal inspiration, Carol Lynn plans to open her home to artists and non-artists alike for workshops. Her art is currently available for purchase through www.Art-Exchange.com. As well as www.carollynnswebsite.com. Carol Lynn welcomes private commissions regarding both her original artworks, as well as her mural painting, and can be reached at 734-470-6488 or 734-645-3534, or email at spiritartbycl@yahoo.com. |

Carol Lynn's Artist Statement -

One’s spirit is in their soul and the soul’s fluidity is in the exchange of passion; passion in color and paint and personal expression. Beauty and grace can arise from an artists work, but true artistry is born when one reaches into their deeper self and discovers that special moment, touch or hope, and passes it on to those who are open to receive it. Carol Lynn embodies this deeper self. Inspired by her visions and meditations, she allows her intuition to guide her through each work’s creation. Feelings, thoughts, and inner troubles are allowed to come out and resolve though the healing process of color, paint application, and subject matter. The result is often surreal, fanciful, full of hope, and peace.
Carol Lynn believes that by allowing her subconscious and inner energy to come alive in her paintings, each person touched by her work will in turn look into their own soul and achieve that personal freedom in self reflection and expression. |
